Actor Milly Alcock, who is best known for playing Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, will now be playing Supergirl in James Gunn's reboot of the DC universe.

While there are several interpretations of the character, Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, is best known as the cousin of Clark Kent/Superman. Director James Gunn had earlier announced that he is also developing a film based on Supergirl, titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.  While the makers are yet to find a director, the film is based on  Tom King's comic book, which is being adapted by writers Ana Nogueira and Oren Uziel.

Alcock will make her first appearance as Supergirl in James Gunn's Superman: Legacy, which has David Corenswet playing Superman, Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult playing Lex Luthor. The film is currently scheduled to release on July 11, 2025.

Milly Alcock is expected to reprise her character in upcoming DC projects.
