Yorgos Lanthimos will direct the remake of Save the Green Planet

Filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, who has a slew of acclaimed films in his credits, including the latest Emma Stone- starrer, Poor Things, is set to direct the remake of the 2003 South Korean fantasy comedy Save the Green Planet. The film will go on floors in the UK and New York in the coming months. 

The film will be jointly produced by Element Pictures, Square Peg and CJ ENM. It is worth mentioning that the upcoming film marks Lanthimos' sixth collaboration with Element Pictures.

The original film, directed by Joon-Hwan Jang, revolves around Byeong-gu, a childish man who believes that the world is on the verge of an alien invasion and sets out to save the world. Further details about the remake are yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, Lanthimosm, who has six Academy Award nominations in his credits from Dogtooth, The Favourite, The Lobster, and Poor Things, has an upcoming film, Kinds of Kindness, in the pipeline.
