CE Features

Giancarlo Esposito is set to play the role of the late Andre Braugher in Shondaland’s murder-mystery series The Residence. Some episodes of the drama series were shot before filming stopped during the Hollywood writers' strike last May. The production was supposed to resume in the second week of January but was postponed following Braugher’s demise. As a result of Esposito’s casting for The Residence, Braugher’s portions will be refilmed.

Esposito shared his excitement for the opportunity to replace Braugher and said that he is honoured to be able to do so.

Uzo Aduba headlines the series that revolves around a death at the White House, which forces as many as 157 state dinner attendees to come under suspicion. Paul William Davies is the showrunner for The Residence, while Betsy Beers and Shonda Rhimes step in as its executive producers.

Esposito is best known for playing Gus in Vince Gilligan’s AMC series Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul. Esposito earned three Emmy nominations for outstanding supporting actor for these two series.
