Gal Gadot, who had her fourth child, daughter Ori, earlier this year, revealed that she had to undergo immediate surgery because of a blood clot in her brain.

She recalled the experience in a post shared on her social media handles, writing that she was eight months pregnant when she received the diagnosis of Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), which when becomes serious can take the life of 3 out of 1,00,000 pregnant women in the 30s age group.

Recounting the ordeal she faced earlier this year, she wrote, "In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain."

"For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live," she added.

Amidst the uncertainty and fear, Gadot gave birth to her fourth daughter, Ori, whose name holds a profound meaning. "Her name, meaning 'my light,' wasn't chosen by chance," Gadot revealed, adding, "Before the surgery, I told Jaron [Varsano, her husband] that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel."

Reflecting on her learnings, she said, that this year has been one of profound challenges and deep reflections. In that way, she hoped that she can raise awareness and support people who face or are facing similar issues in their lives. "I’ve wrestled with how, or even if, to share a personal story. At the end, I decided to let my heart guide me. Perhaps this is my way of processing everything, of pulling back the curtain on the fragile reality behind the curated moments we share on social media. Most of all, I hope that by sharing, I can raise awareness and support others who may face something similar.”

Gadot announced Ori’s birth in March. Gadot and her husband, Jaron Varsano, are also parents to Alma, born in 2011, Maya, born in 2017 and Daniella, born in 2021. The couple has been married since 2008.
