We had earlier reported that Tom Cruise's film with filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu will go on floors in November.

The latest update from the makers is that the film will release in theatres on October 2, 2026.

This project is Inarritu's first English film since the 2015 hit The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. He will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Birdman collaborators Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, besides Sabina Berman. The film follows the story of the 'most powerful man in the world' who embarks on a desperate mission to prove he can save humanity from a disaster he inadvertently caused.

Joining Cruise in the cast are notable actors Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed. The project will be produced by Inarritu along with Cruise.

Tom Cruise's upcoming projects also include the eighth instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, as well as a space movie with filmmaker Doug Liman where Cruise will become "the first civilian to do a spacewalk" beyond the International Space Station.
