Danny Peykoff is making his directorial debut with the independent drama Out Come the Wolves, starring Giancarlo Esposito, Taryn Manning, Harold Perrineau, and Ryan Hurst, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A producer by trade, Peykoff is now directing the film in Oregon.

Orlando Norman and Spence Moore II star in the lead roles, alongside Heidi Grace Engerman and Cassady McClincy Zhang. Curran Walters, Sam Rechner, and West Mulholland are in talks to star as well.

The film is set in the 1990s East Bay music scene, where Norman, Moore, Zhang, and Engerman's characters are high school friends with dreams of getting out of the blighted place where they they live. Esposito is cast as a sadistic and ruthless kingpin who has a deadly smile and smooth attitude, whereas Perrineau is the father of Moore's character. On the other hand, Manning portrays the mother of Norman’s character, and Hurst plays a man with no house who has a prophetic insight and many addictions.

The music band Rancid's 1995 album 'Out Come the Wolves' inspired the drama, which Peykoff penned with Jason and Jamie Neese of Umbrella Academy fame.
