Actor Chris Evans is all set to make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of the star cast of Avengers: Doomsday. This development comes months after Robert Downey Jr.'s reentry into the MCU as Doctor Doom.

Chris Evans' Steve Rogers met his end in Avengers: Endgame in 2019, so there is still no clarity on what capacity and to which extent his return will be. While the makers said Doctor Doom will be a variant of Tony Stark's, Evans too is rumoured to play a variant of Steve Rogers. Evans essayed the role of Johnny Storm from Fantastic Four in his brief MCU return in Deadpool and Wolverine early this year.

Evans was seen in Ghosted (2023), a romantic-action comedy opposite Ana De Armas, and is a part of the Dwayne Johnson-starrer Red One, a Christmas action comedy film, which was recently released.

The Russo Brothers return to direct a two-part Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday, set for 2026 release, and Avengers: Secret Wars, set to release in 2027. The ensemble cast of Avengers: Doomsday also includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bacherach.
