Artificial Intelligence is taking an unsettling form in Joseph Gordon-Levitt's upcoming directorial which stars Anne Hathaway in the lead role. The untitled thriller will be produced by Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman's production company.

Details regarding the plot of the film have been kept under wraps but it has been written by Gordon-Levitt along with Kieran Fitzgerald. They worked on the 2016 film Snowden where Gordon-Levitt played Edward Snowden in that Oliver Stone-directed film. They both share a ‘story by’ credit with Natasha Lyonne, who also headlined Poker Face TV series in 2023, which was created by Rian Johnson.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Rian Johnson have been close friends and collaborators since 2005, when Gordon-Levitt starred in Johnson's directorial debut Brick, a high school neo-noir that became a cult classic. Gordon-Levitt later played a younger Bruce Willis in Johnson’s sci-fi film Looper and made a guest appearance on Poker Face. T-Street co-founder Ram Bergman produced Gordon-Levitt's 2013 feature directorial debut Don Jon which had inputs, feedback and cuts from Johnson.

Gordon-Levitt and Hathaway have previously starred in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), directed by Christopher Nolan.
