The British comedy revenge thriller series Sweetpea will be returning for the second season, the makers Sky and Starz announced on Tuesday.

The second season of the series, which stars the Fallout actor Ella Purnell, “will see Rhiannon Lewis return with a vengeance as her killer secret continues to spiral and she becomes more twisted than ever,” they said in a statement.

Purnell called this "coming-of-rage" journey of Rhiannon a career highlight for her. She added that she feels "truly special" to see fans engage with and relate "to our oddball Rhiannon in all her complexity.

Purnell explained to The Hollywood Reporter that she can never understand how you can take someone's life, telling her she is nowhere close to the mindset of the serial killer she plays. But she said the only thing relatable for her with the role is the "feeling of being seen and having impact." She adds there could be nothing more permanent and impactful than ending someone's life.

Apart from Purnell, the series also stars Nicole Lecky, Jon Pointing, Calam Lynch, Leah Harvey, Jeremy Swift, Dustin Demri-Burns, Luke McGibney, Ingrid Oliver, Alexandra Dowling, Nitin Ganatra and David Bark-Jones.

The series, directed by Ella Jones, is created by Kirstie Swain and written by her along with Krissie Ducker, Laura Jayne, Tunbridge and Selina Lim.
