The film adaptation of Jocko Willink's novel Way of the Warrior Kid has cast teenager Jude Hill in the lead role, alongside Linda Cardellini. The two join previously announced cast member Chris Pratt.
The film follows Marc (Hill), a boy with self doubts who gets forced to do a pull-up and gets bullied otherwise. Cardellini is cast as his mother, Sarah, and Pratt plays his uncle Jake. When Jake, a Navy SEAL recovering from an injury, moves into his sister Sarah’s house, he decides to toughen up the kid.
Based on Willink's eponymous novel, Way of the Warrior Kid is an McG directorial.
Cardellini’s upcoming roles also include No Good Deed, directed by her Dead to Me helmer Liz Feldman and also starring Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, and Luke Wilson. She also has the Ben Stiller comedy Nutcrackers, and the Vince Vaughn starrer Nonnas.
Hill, who made his foray into a theatrical film with Belfast, opposite Jamie Dornan, Judi Dench, Ciaran Hinds, and Caitriona Balfe. He will be next seen in the Amazon MGM Studios thriller Holland, Michigan, opposite Gael Garcia Bernal, Matthew Macfadyen, and Nicole Kidman.
