Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino expressed his views on the 2021 Rust shooting incident, where actor Alec Baldwin discharged a live gun at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the sets of the film that ultimately caused her death.

During his recent participation in the Club Random podcast, when asked by host Bill Maher about his views on the incident, Tarantino said, "I think I’m being fair enough to say that the armourer, the guy who hands him the gun, is 90 percent responsible for everything that happens when it comes to that gun. The actor is 10 percent responsible. It’s a gun. You are a partner in the responsibility to some degree."

After an investigation, Baldwin faced a trial for involuntary manslaughter earlier this year. However, the charges were dismissed with prejudice three days later over a disclosure violation. The incident sparked widespread discussions on safety in film sets.

Rust, directed by Joel Souza, is unreleased as of now, even though there have been attempts at resuming production after the incident. The film is co-produced by Baldwin.
