Earlier, we reported that Lena Headey, Yara Shahid, Isabela Merced, Lana Condor, Millicent Simmonds, and Iris Apatow are to star in Ballerina Overdrive. While Headey, Shahidi and Merced have departed the project, the latest to join the film's cast are Fitting In actor Maddie Ziegler and Mean Girls actor Avantika. 

The upcoming action thriller is directed by Vicky Jewson from a script by Kate Freud. Ballerina Overdrive is currently in production in Budapest. 

Ballerina Overdrive revolves around a troupe of ballerinas whose bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition. They find themselves fighting for survival as they attempt to escape from a remote inn. As the ballerina choreography forms an important part of the film, award-winning stunt designers Heidi Moneymaker and Renae Moneymaker will create the film's dance-based action choreography. 

Ballerina Overdrive is backed by 87North's Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, and Gulfstream Pictures' Bill Bindley and Mike Karz, alongside Piers Tempest. 

Ziegler, who was last seen in Fitting in, has My Old Ass coming up. Also starring Aubrey Plaza and Maisy Stella, the film is set to premiere on Prime Video in September. Avantika, on the other hand, was last seen in the horror film, Tarot.
