Asia Pacific Films revealed that it would finance and produce a rom-com, with Karen McCullah associated with the project as its screenwriter. With the working title The Last Resort, Asia Pacific Films chairperson Manuel V Pangilinan will executive produce the film, which will commence production in the Philippines early next year. Akshay Mehta and Simon Heo will co-produce the film.

The plot revolves around a hotel staffer out to scout a location for a new resort in the Philippines. There, she meets a charming charter pilot from another country.

Asia Pacific Films is now seeking a director and actors for the film, whether Filipino and/or internatioinal talents.

“I’m excited to experience the place I was born and represent the culture and beauty of the Philippines on the screen,” stated McCullah. “I’m also thrilled to be working with this great team of filmmakers on such a special project.”

The Philippines is McCullah's birthplace, although she moved to the US. She is known as the screenwriter of Legally Blonde and 10 Things I Hate About You.
