The first look at Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar’s maiden English feature film The Room Next Door, starring Academy Award winners Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, has arrived. Sony Pictures Classics released a teaser trailer for the film, set to have its world premiere in the competition section at the Venice Film Festival on September 2.

As per its official logline: "The Room Next Door” follows Ingrid (Moore) and Martha (Swinton), who were close friends in their youth when they worked at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation."

The brief clip offers a glimpse into their reunion, with Swinton portrayed as a hospital patient under Moore’s watchful care. Soon, the two women find themselves sharing a home, forcing them to navigate the complexities of their rekindled friendship. Moore appears eager to reconnect, while Swinton's character seems slightly guarded.

Following its Venice debut, The Room Next Door will grace theaters on October 25 this year.
