Earlier today, Netflix dropped the first official trailer for its upcoming series KAOS from showrunner Charlie Covell. In the show, Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus, the mythological figure who experiences a midlife crisis. The show presents Zeus and some of the other Gods as normal human beings. The trailer hints at a Zeus who starts to feel his age, although he is the “king of the Gods, the ruler of the world”. The trailer also offers first looks at Billie Piper’s character Cassandra, Debi Mazar’s Medusa, and Suzy Eddie Izzard’s Lachy.

The official synopsis of the show reads, “Gods of Olympus are just one big, dysfunctional family—unaware of the mortals with the power and fight to bring them down. Change is afoot with Riddy and Orpheus at the heart of it all.”

The series, as teased in its trailer, pits the omnipotent against the ambitious. Prometheus and a trio of determined humans challenge Zeus’ reign.

The cast of KAOS also includes Janet McTeer and David Thewlis. The series drops on Netflix on August 29.
