Brian Tyree Henry onboards Pharrell Williams, Michel Gondry's musical

The film also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Halle Bailey and Da'Vine Joy Randolph

Earlier, we had reported that multihyphenate personality Pharrell Williams and filmmaker Michel Gondry, who is best known for helming Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, have teamed up for a musical. It has now been learned that actor Brian Tyree Henry has joined the yet-to-be-titled film's cast. The film also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Halle Bailey and Da'Vine Joy Randolph. 

Written by Steven Levenson and Martin Hynes, the upcoming film is billed as a coming-of-age story set in 1977 in Virginia and inspired by Williams' childhood neighbourhood Atlantis Apartments. 

Mimi Valdés and Williams are producing it through their banner, I Am Other, alongside Gil Netter's banner. Christine Sun and Ryan Jones are overseeing the film project for Universal Pictures.

Meanwhile, Brian Tyree Henry recently appeared in two projects, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the FX TV series Class of '09, co-starring Kate Mara. His upcoming works include Transformers One and The Fire Inside.
