Pierce Brosnan to star in biopic of boxer Prince Naseem Hamed

Giant is based on the true-life story of British boxer Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed

Actor Pierce Brosnan, along with British-Egyptian actor Amir El-Masry, will be seen sharing screen space in an upcoming biopic on boxer Prince Naseem Hamed. Titled Giant, the sports drama is being written and directed by Rowan Athale.

AGC Studios is producing the film along with Mark Lane of Tea Shop Productions and Kevin Sampson of White Star Productions.

Giant revolves around the true story of how Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle discovered Hamed and his modest upbringing in a working-class neighbourhood of Sheffield. In the 1980s and 1990s, Hamed rose to fame in Britain during a time of widespread Islamophobia and Racism. According to reports, Brosnan will portray Ingle and El-Masry will play Hamed in the film. The project is scheduled to start shooting in Leeds, England towards the end of April.
