In March, we reported that Renée Zellweger is expected to be part of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, the fourth installment in the Bridget Jones franchise. According to a Deadline report, Zellweger has signed an agreement to play the same role as from Bridget Jones's Diary in its upcoming sequel. The role in the 2001 film earned the actor her first Academy Award nomination.

Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant are also reprising their roles in the sequel, while Leo Woodall and Chiwetel Ejiofor are among the new additions to the cast. Based on Helen Fielding's writings, the romantic-comedy series follows Zellweger's charming yet single Bridget Jones as she explores her relationship situations with Colin Firth's Mark Darcy, Grant's Daniel Cleaver, and so forth. The sequels to the 2001 film include Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and Bridget Jones’s Baby.

Michael Morris is directing Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, which follows the titular character as she deals with her motherhood and contemporary life challenges. It is not known what character Woodall and Ejiofor will essay in the film. Tim Bevan, Jo Wallett and Eric Fellner are producing it under Working Title Films, while Working Title’s Sarah-Jane Wright and Amelia Granger are executive producing with Fielding.
