Simon Rex to star in Tow, opposite Octavia Spencer

Simon Rex, best known for Red Rocket, has signed up for Stephanie Laing’s next directorial titled Tow. The film is the based-on-real-life story of a Seattle-based woman named Amanda Ogle, who looks to get back her old life and car after getting a hefty invoice from a towing company. Rex joins the existing cast, comprising Rose Byrne, Ariana DeBose, Octavia Spencer, Demi Lovato, and Dominic Sessa. Ogle is also part of the project as its executive producer. Jonathan Keasey, Annie Weisman, and Brant Boivin wrote the script.

Laing and Byrne are producing the film through their banner Cake or Death Pictures, along with Danyelle Foord and Brian O’Shea of The Exchange, as well as Justin Lothrop and Brent Stiefel of Votiv Films. DeBose, Jonathan Tropper, Jonathan Keasey, Josh Ricks, Danny Gusman, Ogle, Giovanna Trischitta, Nat McCormick, Lisa Wolofsky, and Kevin Eggers.

Rex's next projects are the Channing Tatum starrer Blink Twice, the Sydney Sweeney starrer Americana, the Bryan Cranston film Everything’s Going to Be Great, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Greedy People.
