We had earlier reported that Emma Roberts and Laurence Fishburne will be headlining sci-fi thriller The Astronaut. Now actors Kate Mara and Gabriel Luna have come onboard for the film helmed by Jess Varley in her directorial debut.

This will also mark Jess’ first solo writing venture. She previously wrote and directed segments of the 2021 horror anthology film Phobias and a 2017 horror short film titled Mother.

Kate is set to play the titular astronaut who meets with a space disaster and found surviving in a capsule abandoned in the Atlantic. She is later found and put under observation by Laurence's General William Harris.

The film is set to go on floors next month in Ireland on the conditions of an interim SAG-AFTRA agreement.
