The Creator nears USD 100 million at the global box office

The sci-fi thriller The Creator, starring John David Washington in the lead role, is nearing $100 million at the worldwide box office. The film was released in theatres on September 29 and has grossed a sum of $97.3 million, of which $38.8 million has been earned from the US box office while $58.5 million has been secured in the international market. 

Directed by Gareth Edwards, who is best known for helming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Creator has a script Edwards co-wrote with Chris Weitz. 

The film opened in theatres with mixed to positive reception. An excerpt from the CE review of the film read, "The Creator treads a predictable yet affecting story with genre-redefining visuals. With a unique visual aesthetic, Gareth Edwards builds a familiar yet heartwarming story on top of a rich world with immense scale.

Besides John David Washington, The Creator features an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Allison Janney, and Madeleine Yuna Voyles. 

Kiri Hart, Jim Spencer, and Arnon Milchan are co-producing the film with Gareth Edwards.
