Martin Luther King Jr biopic in the making 

Chris Rock is in talks to direct the film

A biopic on the legendary personality and American activist leader Martin Luther King Jr is set up, attached to Universal Studios, with Chris Rock in talks to direct the film. The film will be adapted from Jonathan Eig's biography titled King: A Life.

Besides direction, Rock will also produce with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer. The biopic will be backed by Amblin Partners with Kristie Macosko Krieger also as the producer. King: A Life, which is critically acclaimed, charts out the biography of the iconic civil rights leader and his efforts against many forces. The details on the cast of the upcoming biopic are yet to be revealed.

It is to be noted that Rock is playing a prominent part in the upcoming film Rustin based on Bayard Rustin, another leader for civil rights. The 1963 march on Washington, which is Rustin’s brainchild is where King made his landmark “I have a dream” speech.
