Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani will star in the upcoming film Thread: An Insidious Tale, which will be set within the Insidious universe. The project is attached to Screen Gems, Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster.

Thread: An Insidious Tale will be the sixth installment from the Insidious franchise, it will not be a direct continuation to the main set of films. Instead, it will revolve around a couple who will travel back in time so that they can prevent their daughter's death. Mandy and Kumail will star as the couple.

Jeremy Slater will direct the film, and also pens the script. It will mark his directorial debut in feature films. He has previously made series Moon Knight and co-created Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. The first four films of the Insidious franchise have grossed over $542 million all over. The fifth film Insidious: The Red Door  is set to release on July 7.
