The first look images of The Nun 2, was released by the makers on social media on Monday. The next installment from The Conjuring franchise will release in theatres on September 8.

One of the first looks shows Valak, the primary antagonist standing at the door and staring at the viewer, while another features Sister Irene along with another nun.

The upcoming sequel is set four years after the events of The Nun. The first part showed Sister Irene and Father Burke probing a nun's death in Romania. As they confront Valak, the ghost escapes only to possess delivery man Maurice, whose exorcism was performed by Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The Nun 2 will star Storm Reid,  Taissa Farmiga,  Anna Popplewell, Bonnie Aarons, Jonas Bloquet, among others. Directed by Michael Chaves, the film is penned by Akela Cooper, Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing.

James Wan and Peter Safran serve as co-producers, with Judson Scott serving as a producer.
