The HBO dark comedy crime drama series Barry recently ended with its fourth and final season. To viewers' surprise, Academy Award winner and veteran filmmaker Guillermo del Toro made a cameo appearance in an episode of the last season. On Tuesday, taking to his Twitter handle, the veteran heaps praise on the show and helmer Bill Hader.

"BARRY was a beautiful experiment- bright, anarchic, bold- full of invention and messy humanity. And it was the heralding of Bill Hader's talent as a director and guiding force. An articulate, brave and cultured filmmaker. S4, E3 had an iffy cameo- but, other than that…"  writes the Pinocchio helmer.

Bill Hader, who plays the titular character and also serves as the writer and producer of the series. The Emmy-nominated series follows a deadly assassin who infiltrates an acting class to eliminate a target but finds out he is drawn towards acting. So he abandons his life of crime to pursue a career in acting.

Besides Bill Hader, Barry features an ensemble cast including Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Carrigan, and Henry Winkler.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Guillermo del Toro will next develop a stop-animation adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's fantasy novel The Buried Giant. There are speculations that the auteur will helm a live-action film Frankenstein with an ensemble cast including Oscar Isaac, Andrew Garfield and Mia Goth.
