After David Harbour's 2019 Hellboy reboot failed to meet expectations, plans for the sequel were abandoned. It was later announced that Jack Kesy will play the titular character in yet another launch of the franchise.

Mike Mignola, who originally created the character, took to social media platforms to announce the completion of the film's production. The principal photography for the film took place in Bulgaria.  The film is being directed by Brian Taylor, who is best known for films like Crank, Crank: High Voltage, and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Apart from Kesy, the cast of the film also includes Adeline Rudolph and Jefferson White. Set in 1950, Hellboy: The Crooked Man, follows Hellboy and a rookie cop as they stumble upon a village hunted down by witches headed by a devil, who has troubling connections to Hellboy's past.
