Scott Ly joins the cast of The Sympathizer

Scott Ly is all set to star in HBO's The Sympathizer in a recurring role. He will be seen in the role of Gunner Dao, a Vietnamese soldier who escaped to the US and is part of the Recon squad.

The upcoming espionage thriller limited series is a cross-culture satire about the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his resulting exile in the United States. 

The Sympathizer will also star Hoa Xuande in the titular character, along with Robert Downey Jr, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Vy Le, Alan Trong, Vy Le, Ky Duyen, and Sandra Oh.

The Sympathizer is directed by Park Chan-wook, who will also serve as co-showrunner and executive producer. He will be directing the first three episodes, with Don McKellar serving as co-writer.
