Alisha Weir, who is best known for Matilda the Musical, teamed up with Melissa Barrera for an upcoming monster film. The film will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo who helmed the recent Scream films.

The plot details are yet to be revealed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project at one point was titled Dracula's Daughter, which revolves around a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people, one of whom turns out to be the main character. And the American magazine also reported that Weir is playing the kidnappee with Barrera playing one of the kidnappers.

Dracula's Daughter was a classic horror film produced in 1936. The makers of the upcoming film pointed out that they won't be copping the classic's plot or lineage. The makers also specified that the film would fall in the league of Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man and the Nicolas Cage starrer Renfield.

The film's script hails from Stephen Sheilds and Guy Busick.

Meanwhile, the eleven-year-old Alisha Weir has gained a broad appreciation for her portrayal in Matilda the Musical. The film also stars Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch and Stephen Graham, among others.  Melissa Barrera was last seen in Scream VI and a musical, Carmen, opposite Paul Mescal.
