Jonathan Groff to guest star in Doctor Who

The series is set to air in November

Jonathan Groff, known for his performance in Mindhunter, will appear in a guest role in the upcoming new instalment of Doctor Who, the long-running British series. 

Also known for Glee and The Matrix Ressurections film, Groff said he is looking forward to joining Ncuti Gatwa on the shoe, as the new Doctor. 

According to a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said, "I am so thrilled to jump into the extraordinary mind of Russell T Davies and watch the incredible Ncuti Gatwa soar in this iconic role." Gatwa is playing Jodie Whittaker's role and will be the 15th Doctor of the series. 

Russell T Davies, showrunner of the popular BBC and Disney+ series said, “This is an incredible coup, and a great honour, to get such a huge star striding onto our set. So strap on your space boots; this is going to be a blast!”

All set to air in November 2023, Doctor Who will have three special episodes with David Tennant as the 14th Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the series.
