Beef's creator Lee Sung Jin to write Marvel's Thunderbolts

Lee has previously written series including Tuca & Bertie, Dave and Silicon Valley. Thunderbolts will be credited as the first feature film in his writing credit

Lee Sung Jin, creator and showrunner of the Netflix series Beef, onboarded Marvel's Thunderbolts as a writer. Jake Schreier, who directed six episodes of the series, will be directing the film and Steven Yeun, who essayed the lead role in the series, will also be essaying a prominent role in the film. 

Lee has previously written series including Tuca & Bertie, Dave and Silicon Valley. Thunderbolts will be credited as the first feature film in his writing credit. Eric Pearson, who wrote Marvel's Black Widow and Thor Ragnarok, did a first pass at the film's script.

In the Marvel comics, Thunderbolts focuses on a group of anti-heroes who are sent on missions by the government. However, The plot of the film and Steven Yeun's character are still under wraps. The film, which is part of Marvel's phase five, will reportedly go on floors in June and is scheduled for a release on July 26. 

Besides Steven Yeun, the film also features Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Olga Kurylenko. Ayo Edebiri has also tapped in to play an undisclosed role.

Apart from Thunderboltsthe upcoming films in Marvel's phase five include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Captain America: New World Order, Blade and Deadpool 3
