Black Panther director Ryan Coogler to reboot The X-Files series

The long running sci-fi crime drama The X-Files had wrapped up its final season in 2018. It was recently announced that an animated spinoff of the franchise titled The X-Files: Albuquerque is currently in the works.

According to fresh reports, Ryan Coogler, the director of Creed and Black Panther, is currently in talks to develop a fresh take on The X-Files franchise with a new set of cast. The reports further suggest that the new series will have diverse cast members with brand new storylines.

The news was confirmed by Chris Carter, the creator of the original series, in a conversation with John Squires from Bloody-Disgusting.com. Carter was quoted as saying, “I just spoke to a young man… Ryan Coogler… who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast. So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.”
