Speculations are rife that Trey Parker, who is best known for creating the American animated sitcom South Park will direct an untitled comedy for Paramount Pictures.

Back in January 2022, Trey Parker and South Park co-creator Matt Stone signed to produce an untitled live-action comedy along with rapper Kendrick Lamar and his creative partner Dave Free for Paramount Pictures. However, the project had not confirmed any directors back then. According to Above the Line, the project will now be helmed by Trey Parker.

Written by Vernon Chatman, the film revolves around a young Black man who is interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum.

Trey Parker and  Matt Stone will produce the film under their Park County banner, and Lamar and  Dave Free will produce via their company pgLang. The upcoming film marks PgLang's debut production in films.
