Oscars 2023: Volker Bertelmann wins Best Original Score for All Quiet On The Western Front 

Volker was earlier nominated for the Academy Awards for his work in the 2016 film Lion, Ennio Moriccone had won that year for his work in The Hateful Eight

German composer Volker Bertelmann has won the best original score for his work in the epic war drama All Quiet On The Western Front. This is the first Academy Award for the pianist and composer. He recently won the BAFTA awards under the same category.

Volker was earlier nominated for the Academy Awards for his work in the 2016 film Lion, Ennio Moriccone had won that year for his work in The Hateful Eight. Other notable works of the composer include original score for films like The Current War and The Old Guard.

Other nominees for this year's original score include Justin Hurwitz for Babylon, Sun Lux for Everything Everywhere All At Once, Carter Burwell for The Banshees of Inisherin, and John Wiliams for The Fabelmans.  

 All Quiet On The Western Front is directed by Edward Berger, who has also co-written the film along with Ian Stokell and Leslie Peterson. The cast of the film includes  Daniel Brühl, Albrecht Schuch, Sebastian Hülk, Felix Kammerer, Aaron Hilmer, Edin Hasanovic and Devid Striesow.
