Mortal Kombat 2 goes on floors

The film's producer Todd Garner took to his Twitter to confirm the same

Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the 2015 film Mortal Kombat film has officially gone on floors. The film's producer Todd Garner took to his Twitter to announce that the film's shoot has begun. 

On the social media platform, Garner wrote, "Off we go! I’m thrilled to start & trust me, we’ve listened. We’ve learned from our mistakes & are committed to making the best MK2 possible. I, 100% support everyone’s right to their opinion, but I have the right not to be abused & will block you. So…let’s have an amazing ride!"

The action-adventure film is based on the widely successful video game franchise. Simon McQuoid, who directed the first film, is returning for the sequel, which will be headlined by Karl Urban. Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Tadanobu, Hiroyuki Sanada, Chin Han, Ludi Lin and Joe Taslim are expected to reprise their role in the sequel. Martyn Ford, Desmond Chaim, Ana Thu Nguyen and Damon Herriman are the newest members to join the cast of Mortal Kombat 2

Mortal Kombat was one of the earliest films to release right after the peak of the pandemic, and it went on to stay on top of the box office. Video-game-to-film adaptations have a long history of disappointing the fans, but Mortal Kombat subverted all expectations to have a stellar theatrical run. 

Mortal Kombat 2 does not have a release date yet.
