On Tuesday, Prime Video announced that their latest Hollywood film Kandahar will premiere on the platform on June 16. An action-thriller, the film stars Gerard Butler and Ali Fazal in prominent roles.

In Kandahar, Butler will feature as an undercover CIA operative Tom Harris who goes deep into an endangered territory in Afghanistan. He is forced to navigate through an obstacle-stricken Afghanistan when an intelligence leak exposes his mission and identity. He is helped by his Afghan translator Mo (Navid Negahban) in an attempt to avoid an expert special forces unit on the mission to hunt him down and reach an extraction point in Kandahar.

Ali Fazal will essay the role of Kahil, a man who opposes Tom Harris as they indulge themselves in a cat-and-mouse chase. Kandahar is based on a true story of a former military intelligence officer.

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the ensemble cast of Kandahar also includes  Navid Negahban, Bahador Foladi, Nina Toussaint-White, Vassilis Koukalani, Mark Arnold, Corey Johnson, and Abdullah Alnaji. Mitchell LaFortune has penned the script for the film.
