In the world of CGI built sets, director Greta Gerwig had used physical sets for her upcoming film Barbie to provide an authenticity. In doing so, the makers have caused an international shortage of pink paint, the makers recently revealed.

Greta's Barbie draws its inspiration from the iconic Mattel doll, which is commonly associated with the colour pink. In order to create a universe of Barbie land, Sarah, while speaking to Architectural Digest, the filmmaker said that she did not want doors and walls, to give a view of "upscaled Barbie's Dreamhouse children's play set".  

“I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much as not to forget what made me love Barbie when I was a little girl,” she added. Eventually, it resulted in a shortage of fluorescent shade of Rosco paint. The film's production designer is Sarah Greenwood said, “The world … ran out of pink.”

Set to release on July 21, Barbie is co-written by Noah Baumbach. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Michael Cera, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa, Dua Lipa, among others.
