Daniel Kaluuya's Barney film to be surrealistic

It was earlier reported that actor Daniel Kaluuya will be directing a feature film adaptation based on the popular television character Barney. The purple anthropomorphic dinosaur is a central character in the children's show Barney and Friends.

In a recent media interaction, Mattel Films executive Kevin Mckeon revealed that the film will be surrealistic and will be tonally similar to the production house A24's films. They are known for critically acclaimed films like Hereditary and the Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once. He goes on to reveal that the film will be aimed at a millennial audience, rather than being made kid-friendly.

Daniel Kaluuya is best known for appearing in critically acclaimed films like Get Out and Nope. Meanwhile, Mattel Films is gearing up to release a feature film adaptation of their toy line Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig.
