Peter Farrelly's Ricky Stanicky to go on floors in Australia 

Ricky Stanicky will enjoy A$9.5 million ($6.75 million) of financial support from the Australian federal government’s Location Incentive scheme

Peter Farrelly, who helmed the Oscar-winning drama Green Book, will start production of his new film Ricky Stanicky in Australia. The film will star Zac Efron and John Cena in the lead.  

According to the synopsis, the story follows three childhood friends who create a fictitious character to get them out of sticky situations. When their partners become suspicious, they’re forced to hire a washed-up actor to bring him to life with dire, yet hilarious consequences.

Australian producer Paul Currie, known for Hacksaw Ridge and Blacklight, is producing the film alongside Thorsten Schumacher and John Jacobs.

Production of Ricky Stanicky will happen through February and March.
