Patrick Stewart is best known for playing the crew commander Picard in the sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series, which consisted of seven seasons, ended its run in 1997. While the Star Trek franchise was revived with JJ Abram’s reboot film series, a TV series titled Star Trek: Picard revolving around an aged Picard was also commissioned in 2020.

The series was developed for Paramount+ by Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman. While the series was renewed last year for a third and final season, Stewart has confessed that he would like to keep playing Picard in the series. In a recent panel discussion about the series, he said he is open to reappearing for more seasons if the series could maintain the quality of writing it had in the last two seasons.

Patrick Stewart is also best known for playing professor Xavier in Marvel’s live-action X-Men film series. While he appeared in the recently released Doctor Strange sequel, it is unclear whether he would reprise his role again in the ongoing MCU. Star Trek: Picard season 3 is currently scheduled to release on 16 February.
