Lucien Laviscount to be the new James Bond?

CE Features

Actor Lucien Laviscount, who was recently seen as Alfie in American series Emily in Paris, is reportedly being considered to play the character James Bond.

According to Daily Mail, the actor was caught under the radar of James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, to replace Daniel Craig who had portrayed the iconic character for these many years. Lucien played a British banker in two seasons of Emily in Paris. His character became a love interest of Emily (Lily Collins) until they called it quits in season three finale.

While an official announcement on Lucien's casting has not been made, the report suggested that Barbara is looking for an actor who can play James Bond for next 15 years and in particular looking to cast ethnic minority star to play the role.

“Lucien ticks all of the boxes. He is a super talented actor, is extremely handsome and in the past 18 months has won lots of new fans since he joined Emily In Paris. Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedo, how dapper and fitting to the role he will look. But, there is a sticking point, and that is Big Brother. Lucien appeared on the show at a time when his acting career was not as high-profile as it is now, but he was very popular then and has a fan base now which stretches generations. That is a dream for Barbara who is very taken with him,” Daily Mail quoted a source as saying.

It is to be noted that Daniel Craig recently retired from the role of James Bond, and was honoured with The Order of St Michael and St George for his contribution to film and theatre. The actor first appeared as James Bond in the 2006 film Casino Royale. The actor ended his five-film run as 007 with No Time to Die, which released in 2021.
