It prequel, Welcome to Derry, gears up on HBO Max 

Andy Muschietti, who helmed the big-screen adaptations It and It: Chapter Two, will be directing multiple episodes of the series

HBO Max is gearing up with a prequel series of the film It. The prequel is currently titled Welcome to Derry.

Based on the horror novel by Stephan King, Andy Muschietti, who helmed the big-screen adaptations It and It: Chapter Twowill be directing multiple episodes of the series. Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs are also on board for the project.

Fuchs will pen the first episode of Welcome to Derry based on a story by the Muschiettis, and he also serves as showrunner along with Brad Caleb Kane.  

It told the story of The Losers' Club, a group of seven children who are terrorized by a shape-shifting monster who emerges from the sewer. Both the films were grand box office successes, with the first earning $700 million worldwide in 2017 and its 2019 sequel grossing $473 million worldwide.
