Constantine 2 script under development, says producer Akiva Goldsman

Akiva Goldsman, the producer of the 2005 superhero horror film Constantine, confirmed that the sequel's script is in the works. According to reports, Goldsman will be writing the script as well.  

According to a report by Deadline, Akiva Goldsman disclosed the news during the occasion marking his return to Warner Bros. Constantine 2 will be directed by Francis Lawrence. 

Constantine stars Matrix-fame Keanu Reeves as the chain-smoking sorcerer/exorcist who battles demons and ghosts from the underworld. His character dies in the film but stays around to save the world. The character is based on the DC comics of the same name. 

Reeves will reprise his role in the sequel. The original film grossed $ 280 million worldwide. Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Erwin Stoff will executive produce the project.
