Actors Emma Roberts and Laurence Fishburne are all set to play the leads in the upcoming sci-fi thriller The Astronaut. The film is produced by Brad Fuller.
Emma will be playing the role of Sam Walker, an astronaut who is inexplicably found alive floating in a damaged capsule deep in the ocean after a mission goes wrong. Laurence will be seen as General William Harris who gives orders to continue surveillance and medically test Sam Walker. Sam starts to believe that she might not have returned to Earth alone after strange things start happening around her.

Brad Fuller is known for not only producing A Quiet Place, but also its sequel. In addition, he is producing A Quiet Place III and a prequel spin-off for the franchise. He is also known for other films such as The Purge franchise, Ouija, and A Nightmare on Elm Street remake. Other producers on The Astronaut include Eric B. Fleischman and Cameron Fuller.
Jess Varley, the writer and director of The Astronaut, is making her feature film debut directorial with this sci-fi thriller. This will also mark her first solo writing venture. She previously wrote and directed segments of the 2021 horror anthology film Phobias and a 2017 horror short film titled Mother.
The Astronaut is expected to begin production in Ireland, later this year.
