Apple TV announces sci-fi series Murderbot

Apple TV+ announced its upcoming sci-fi series titled Murderbot coming from creators and directors Chris and Paul Weitz. It will star Alexander Skarsgård in the lead role.

The 10-episode series will also have the actor serve as executive producer alongside the Weitz brothers. The project is attached to Paramount Television Studios and is based on the bestselling novels The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells.

Murderbot is an action-packed sci-fi series, based on the award-winning books by Wells, about a self-hacking security android who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe,” reads the synopsis.

 The Weitz brothers are set to write, direct and produce under Depth of Field banner.
