HBO renews Last Week Tonight with John Oliver for three more seasons

John Oliver's late-night talk show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has been renewed by HBO for three more seasons. The series will continue to air up until 2026. 

As per a report on Variety, Oliver said, “We’re very happy to get to keep making this show with our fantastic staff. We will continue trying to stretch the term ‘entertainment’ to the breaking point.”

Last Week Tonight was launched in 2014, and ever since, it has become an important show in the late-night segment and a mainstay with regard to the political discourse in America. John Oliver is known for exploring various social, cultural, and political issues every week.  

Sixteen String Jack Productions and Avalon are producing the show for HBO. James Taylor, Jon Thoday, Liz Stanton, Tim Carvell, and Oliver all serve as executive producers. Paul Pennolino is the director of the show.

26 Emmy Awards have been won by Last Week Tonight with John Oliver over its tenure, including seven consecutive victories for Best Variety Talk Show and Outstanding Writing for a variety series.  In addition, the program has won eight straight PGA Awards, six Writers Guild Awards, two GLAAD Media Awards, five Critics Choice Awards, two Peabody Awards, and six Writers Guild Awards.
