The Promised Land trailer is here

The international trailer and poster for Nikolaj Arcel's upcoming historical epic drama The Promised Land was unveiled. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen and will have a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival as a part of the competition. 

The official logline of the film is, “a gripping story about the conquest of the heath, the tale of a proud and uncompromising man, and the woman who becomes his ally in the fight against evil, death and perdition.”

Amanda Collin will also star as the lead alongside Mikkelsen in The Promised Land. Magnus Krepper, Simon Bennebjerg, Gustav Lindh, Kristine Kujath Thorp, Morten Hee Andersen, Jacob Lohmann, and Felix Kramer round out the cast of the film.

Arcel has penned the script for the film alongside Anders Thomas Jensen, acclaimed Danish screenwriter and filmmaker. It is an adaptation of the 2020 Danish novel Kaptajnen og Ann Barbara (The Captain and Ann Barbara.) Louise Vesth is producing The Promised Land under the Zentropa Entertainments banner.

The film will release in Denmark on October 5.
