Himesh Patel and Aya Cash headline HBO series The Franchise

HBO has ordered pardody comedy series titled The Franchise, which will be about the superhero movie-making industry. The series stars Himesh Patel and Aya Cash.

Others part of the cast include Jessica Hynes, Billy Magnussen, Lolly Adefope, Darren Goldstein, Isaac Powell, Richard E. Grant and Daniel Brühl among others. The show is attached to Sam Mendes and Armando Iannucci. While Sam will direct the show, the pilot of the series will be penned by Jon Brown who will also be the show runner.

As per Variety report, the series synopsis reads, "It shines a light on the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking, to ask the question — how exactly does the cinematic sausage get made? Because every f*ck-up has an origin story.”

The executive producers of the show include Sam Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown and Julie Pastor. While the works on the pilot was completed before the actors' strike began, the production is expected to begin only after the strike is resolved.
