With live-action adaptations taking over Hollywood, and with the success of Barbie sealing a sure shot success on the trend, it is learnt that Lionsgate has acquired the rights to make a film on the famous board game Monopoly.

According to reports, Lionsgate has acquired Entertainment One’s (eOne) TV and film operations from Hasbro, out of which will result in the upcoming Monopoly film. It is to be noted that the film on the business game has been in talks for a while with names such as Kevin Hart, Ridley Scott and Tim Story attached to it. However, none of the plans moved forward.

The new Monopoly game does not have any actor or director attached to the project as of yet. Further details on the release date and production are also yet to be announced. It is to be noted that Hasbro, the American MNC which boasts a line up toys like Transformers, Power Rangers, Twisters, Peppa Pig, had announced in last November to sell its eOne assets.
