Netflix's The Leopard goes on floors

The limited series is based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s classic novel

The Leopard, Netflix's Italian drama has gone into production. The makers also unveiled the cast of the series which is based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s classic novel.

Deva Cassel will be seen as Angelica Sedara while Kim Rossi Stuart will feature as Don Fabrizio Corbera. Benedetta Porcaroli is Concetta and Saul Nanni is Tancredi Falconeri. Paolo Calabresi, Francesco Colella, Astrid Meloni and Greta Esposito are also on board.

The series will follow the Prince as he realises that his family is in jeopardy as the old aristocratic way of life is threatened. It is set against the backdrop of revolution and the move towards Italian unification. He is then pushed to set up a marriage between his daughter and nephew, knowing very well it would break his other daughter's heart. 

The filming for The Leopard will take place in Palermo, Syracuse, Catania, and Rome and will last for four months. The six-episode series based on Il Gattopardo (The Leopard), was previously made into an influential film in 1963.
