The Pope's Exorcist to get a sequel

A sequel of the recently released horror film The Pope's Exorcist is in the making at Sony, according to reports.

While no detail on the plot of the sequel is out as of yet, the project is in the nascent stages of development. Actor Russell Crowe, who played the role of primary protagonist Father Gabriel Amorth, is expected to be featured in the second film as well.

The Pope's Exorcist is set in Spain and followed the events of exorcism assignment performed by Father Amorth of the Vatican. He is called by a family of three to force out a devil possessing the young son. The film opened to mixed reviews upon its release. The film was based on the real life personality, who was known to have performed over several exorcisms. The film is directed by Julius Avery and also stars Daniel Zovatto, Alex Essoe, Peter DeSouza Feighoney, and others.
